Twitter began to block the display of publications for unregistered users

The social network Twitter began to block the display of any publications (tweets, polls, replies to tweets) for unregistered users. Previously, users had the ability to watch tweets without registering.

According to the explanation of Twitter owner Elon Musk, the administration of the platform resorted to such unpopular measures due to the increased load on the social network. The traffic from unregistered users was so high that it created inconvenience for registered customers, some of whom subscribed to Twitter Blue. Profile experts believe that Twitter has now switched to customer support only with a verified subscription account, and the rest of the users on the social network have decided to neglect, and also deliberately try to transfer most of the remaining users to the subscription model by introducing restrictions.

In April 2023, Twitter removed the search option for unregistered users. In October 2022, Musk, after taking over the leadership of the social network, immediately demanded that the rules for the Twitter home page for unregistered users be changed so that popular tweets and news are displayed there, and not just a full-screen registration form. So Musk wants to attract new users to the social network even before the introduction of the Twitter Blue subscription.

On July 1, Twitter introduced view limits for accounts without a Blue subscription from 300 tweets (for new users without a subscription) to 600 tweets (for old unverified users) per day. Then Musk relented and decided to increase these limits to 500 and 1000 tweets per day.
